This is the final blog entry. The final product is a pop-up book that is meant to teach and help children to find courage. The book provides this by having three guides teach them and they also have Evan the knight to lead them to each guide.
There are five guides: The Priest, The Historian, The Challenger, The Odd One and The Builder. All five characters have their chapter and stay there. Evan is the only loose character, to make it feel like that he is actually going with the readers and listeners on the journey. The ending leads them to Fear where everyone must work together to defeat him.
The listeners are given weapons to help them join in and feel like they are a part of the story and to help them engage with the story. There are also little notes to help the parents engage and help their children follow the instructions and the activities correctly.
The book has "paper poles" and clips to help keep the pages up. It also comes with a box attached to it to keep the poles, clips, weapons, book and Evan together, when it is stored away so that things don't go missing. The story is based off my research about how to explain to children what courage is and the links for the sources can be found in my first and third blog. I designed the characters myself and tried to make them as cartoonish and simple as possible. Each chapter goes in depth on how to build courage and how to help others build courage with advise from the characters as well as advise for the parents. In some chapters there are also activities to help build courage like The Priest, Challenger and Fear chapters.
The actual contents of the book in terms of the images, how it looks and what is written is shown in the images below.
This is very well put together. I like the detail indicating the progess.
