Start to assemble the book: DO WE NEED HOLES?

Start to assemble  the book:  DO WE NEED HOLES? 2020/10/30 This week I started with assembling the book. This week's prompt from the brief is "do we need holes?"  The answer is no. I was planning on putting in ring binders, but decided to just stick the pages together with clue.  I wrote in my previous blogs that I was planning on making it pop-up and I did. I found a good video by  studydiaryofalex (2012), who has an amazing tutorial on how to make an easy pop-up book (link in list of sources). I used the backgrounds in my  fourth blog.  This week I started assembling the book, I started by printing out the backgrounds, buildings and characters. Then I started to cutting them out. After that I started putting in the buildings and some of the objects in with the background they go with. The writing, characters and other objects will be added  and will be shown in my last blog next week. I followed the steps shown in  studydiaryofalex's ...

The weapons for the book: ABANDON NORMAL INSTRUMENTS

The weapons for the book:  ABANDON NORMAL INSTRUMENTS 2020/10/25 This week I worked on the weapons so that the listeners and even the reader can join in and be a part of the story. The instructions for the weapons and how they should be used is written in the first and third blog posts. This week's prompt is abandon normal instruments and in a way I did follow this in the sense that I didn't use the correct instruments to make the weapons, like metal or actual materials that could be harmful to children.  All three weapons are save. I made the weapons small enough to be put into a pouch that can be attached to the book.  I made the sword by following the video by  Crazy gulshan’s How to make a Paper Sword . I had to modify it by adding a guard. Then I painted it, which might not be the best and I might will work on it. The material is safe.  For the bow I followed the instructions of  Butler, E. The only step I added was to cut of the pointy en...

Fixing the Characters and adding Backgrounds: BE EXTRAVAGANT

Fixing the Characters and adding Backgrounds:  BE EXTRAVAGANT 2020/10/18 This week's post is really late, but that could be because I was directing my short film for Film and TV class. This prompt for this week is be extravagant, which is way I am so late is because I was just planning on fixing up the characters. I fixed the hands of two of the characters, the drill and tool belt of the Builder and the shoes of the Challenger.  I was planning on just doing that, but then I decided to also start with the backgrounds I will be using in the book. I am planning on making the book a pop-up book, I have to have a background and a floor/ground because I want to make the pop-up book like in the tutorial video by  studydiaryofalex .  I also drew a couple of objects and items I want to also make pop-up along with the characters, but I don't have space to write where I will use them so it might look a little bit confusing. I also drew the picture for the stories th...

The story written out: GIVE WAY TO YOUR WORST IMPULSE

The story written out:  GIVE WAY TO YOUR WORST IMPULSE 2020/10/10 This week I left the work a little bit later than I should have. I thought the story would come to me if the deadline of this week's homework would get closer, but instead it just made me more anxious and irritated. I am still working on it just a little bit, but so far I have a pretty good story. I just hope the message is clear enough for children to understand.  I based the story off the research I did in the first week, which I will leave the links to at the end of this post and I will add an I will add an extra one I found while doing some more research. The story is the same story pattern that I had in my rough draft. I will try next week to make sure to get this done before the deadline, because my worst impulse is to leave things at the last minute.  I am also currently doing research on how to make this a pop-up book, so that it is more engaging and fun for children. I am still a bit un...

The Characters: DON’T BE FRIGHTENED TO DISPLAY YOUR TALENTS

The Characters:   DON’T BE FRIGHTENED TO DISPLAY YOUR TALENTS 02/10/2020 This week I drew the characters. To be honest I was a little bit worried about this, but I decided to take the advice that I want to give people about taking courage. Which is to just do your best and display your talents. I did some research on how I should try and draw these characters and I say try because I am still learning, so please don't be too harsh.  I tried to draw the characters in a cartoonish way and also kept it a bit rough looking because that is more of my style and also my signature look.  I like this style because it has a freestyle feel to it, like I just drew how directly from my imagination how the characters would look like in this new world I created. I also like how this is fitting for the story. Because I want to teach that courage can be to try your best and not really care what others think, because to be honest I was a bit scared to do this. But I wanted to be an e...
